Copy Option Access' in Multidimensional Mode

OBJECTIVE

The Copy Access to Options from Prefix function is only used in a multidimensional environment and only applies if the security type is local.

A user group created with a local security type, in a multidimensional environment, can be used in all companies created in the same directory. However, access permissions to the options must be copied from one company to another because local mode means that access permissions to options differ from one company to another.

This function is used to copy all access permissions to locally defined options in the different user groups from one company to another prefix. This means we can avoid handling duplicates when access permissions to options are practically identical. Once copied, it will be possible to change the access permissions for each user group for the current company.

PREREQUISITEs

  • The multidimensional module must be installed.
  • Security Management
  • A user group must exist and you must first define access permissions to the options.

steps

To copy the access permissions to the options of a user group from one company to another company:

  1. In maestro*, from the main menu, click the Company Selection icon.
  2. Select the company for which access permissions to options are not defined.
  3. Click the Security Management option which is accessible in the drop-down menu for the icon. You are not required to select a user name.
  4. Click the Group icon. You are not required to select a group.
  5. Click the Copy icon. An option window is displayed.
  6. From the new window, select the source prefix.

This step lets you select the prefix of the company in which access permissions to options have been defined.

All access permissions from all user groups will be copied without exception.

  1. Check or clear the Delete all existing access configuration in current prefix before processing option.

If you check this option, the system will destroy access permissions to options saved in this company and replace them with those defined in the source company (prefix). If this option is not checked (cleared), the system adds the access permissions to options defined in the source company (prefix) to access permissions already existing in the current company.

  1. Click OK to start copying.

A confirmation message is displayed on the screen to confirm or refuse the replacement of transactions. Answer Yes to continue processing or No to stop.

  1. Click OK to close the message the process has been completed successfully.
  2. Make any necessary corrections to the user groups.
